Panasonic TC-P50X5

Editors Note- In the smart TV world Panasonic are Samsungs shy little sibling, following just behind and not confident enough to stake a claim for itself. With this TC-P50X5 Panasonic have dropped the ball completly and will run away to mommy cry it’s eyes out, such a shame!

In CNET’s lists of the best 2012 televisions, no lineup dominates like Panasonic’s plasmas. No matter whether you pay $700 for a U50 or $3,700 for a VT50, our tests and observations have demonstrated that models across the entire range are the televisions to buy at their respective prices. But cracks had to appear somewhere, and in the Panasonic X5, they have. This is the only Panasonic plasma I don’t recommend. In fact, much like many of the company’s LCD and LED TVs, I encourage you to actively avoid it. Continue reading

Fox releases a second screen app for Ridley Scott’s scary sci-fi movie.

Editors Note – When we received our copy of Prometheus in the post yesterday we immediately went to our ipad and iphones to download the app, app-solutly amazing, when we sync the bluray player (or in our case the PS3) and the ipad the film is paused while the ipad plays an ‘extra’ part of the film or a behind the scenes segment, we hope this takes off and will be the norm for all top bluray’s. Continue reading

Editors Note – If you have purchased a Blu ray disc recently you would have noticed that the 3D version of the film is slighly more expensive, is 3D a gimicky selling point? is it where all bluray disc will be in a few years? or will it fade away like HD discs have?

If consumer electronics were a guide to the economic situation, we’d all have to say that things are going pretty well. After all, how do you argue against being able to buy a Blu-ray player at a price point that is significantly less than that of DVD players from just a few years ago that don’t have nearly the same level of technology packed inside?
